WHEN SHOULD I DEEP CLEAN MY SCREEN PRINTING DIP TANK?
If you are finding that your dip tank is taking longer and longer to remove the emulsion you may benefit from ‘shocking’ your tank first.
If you are using the Easiway systems dip tank like us, to ‘shock’ your tank, you need to remove some of your water and replace it with 1 gallon of Easiway Supra. Doing this will reinvigorate your solution and give it a longer life span.
In our studio, after 1 year of owning the Easyway Dip Tank and successfully completing multiple ‘shocks’, we thought it was about time to give it a deep clean. You should only need to complete a deep clean if you are finding that ‘shocking’ your tank is no longer working or if you have a substantial amount of sludge at the bottom of your tank which is effecting your reclaim process.
HOW TO REMOVE OLD SOLUTION FROM AN EASIWAY DIP TANK?
If you have an Easiway dip tank, it is likely that you have been using the whole Easiway system of chemicals. In our dip tank we use just 1 chemical:

Before you put your old solution down the drain, please check with your local council and gain permission. Luckily for us, we have found that Easiway Supra is perfectly fine for us to put directly into our washout booth which will be drained away as usual.
Dependent on the location of your dip tank, you have a few options on the methods of removing old solution.
- Syphon the solution out using a dedicated syphon tube.
- Release the plug at the bottom of the tank over a drain.
- Manually remove the solution using a bucket (not recommended).
As we are releasing the solution directly into our washout booth, we found the syphon method to be the most effective. We bought our syphon tube for around £20 from a local hardware shop and it was simple and quick to set up.
Once all of the water has been removed you will need to scoop the sludge out from the bottom of your tank and give everything a good wash down.
Now the tank is nice and clean, you should be able to refill your tank from scratch.
